Cyber Security Engineer 

QED Systems, LLC, currently has an opening for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen, MD.

The Cyber Security Engineer will define information system security requirements and functionality by designing system architecture, developing and implementing security designs, and assessing the effectiveness of security solutions against present and projected threats.
The IAE will implement solutions by planning, training, and installing/configuring, produce formal and informal reports, briefings, and direct input to the customer regarding security and functionality requirements, system architecture, and security designs, and conduct risk assessments throughout the life-cycle as well as continuously monitoring security relevant changes of the IT system.  The IAE will protect computer network systems by identifying vulnerabilities and potential for attacks, discover methods of protecting global networks, computer systems, or specific hardware or software, and design, demonstrate, develop, implement, or update protection methods and recommend mitigation strategies and techniques.  The IAE will identify vulnerabilities of and attacks to various physical properties of equipment, and security mechanisms and characterize those attacks with respect to resources and capabilities required to accomplish those attacks and relate those vulnerabilities and attacks to their effects on the operations and missions supported by those systems.  The IAE will write, edit, review and prepare for publication or presentation scientific and/or technical documents on engineering-designed systems and equipment or information technology research, applying knowledge of the technical subject matter of the specific position, prepare detailed test plans, procedures and reports dealing with all levels of security products, systems, networks and architectures, and develop policy, implementing security procedures, reviewing security practices, and evaluating security of the IA program in accordance with applicable policies and regulations.

This position is based at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.  It is a Monday-Friday 40-hr/week assignment.  Neither telecommuting nor flex hours are anticipated for this position.

Successful candidates will possess skills in the following areas: 
•    Experienced in Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation and controls
•    Experience with IA evaluation tools such as Retina
•    Experience with HBSS desired
•    Experienced in evaluating systems against DoD STIGs and devising mitigation strategies
•    Comfortable providing briefings to diverse audiences
•    Possesses good understanding of SDLC process
•    Travel is not anticipated but may be occasionally required to CONUS destinations for short periods of time
•    Ability to maintain a security clearance from the US Department of Defense.

•    Bachelor of Science degree in related field and 5 years of experience
